In the coming decades, as the baby boomers continue to enter into the retirement phase of their lives, the options for living as independently as possible have increased. In states like Arizona or Florida, adult communities have provided a snapshot of what aging looks like for seniors. While active and independent at age fifty-five, aging into one’s eighties and nineties often requires some assistance with daily living activities. Assisted living residences have evolved out of the desire to be as independent for as long as one can.

In the healthcare industry activities of daily living (ADLs), such as being able to drive, use the telephone, make meals, and maintain personal hygiene, are used as a measure of an adult’s ability to live independently. If a person needs help in one or more of these activities, choosing a home that provides this aid may be the answer.

A healthcare provider should conduct an evaluation of any limitations of daily activities. Knowing how much help an individual needs is the first step to finding the right residence. Some assisted living communities are set up to provide very basic services, like making meals, assisting with shopping needs, and providing help with transportation. Other communities will provide basic care at the start, yet have the ability to add services depending on a person’s future needs.

Once the level of care is known, the decision of where to locate will need to be addressed. Plan ahead, it can make the move easier for all involved. If the move will be to a new town or another part of the country, learn about the weather, the attractions, and other information to make the change easier. Locate a facility early in the decision process. Arrange help to pack and transport belongings. Engage family and friends to help in the transition.

When the location has been chosen, visit various facilities. Learn about the services that the care facility offers to make sure it can properly assist with current and future needs. Visiting the community will provide knowledge of the amenities available, how the staff interacts with the residents, and if the residents are happy and involved in activities.

Pay close attention to the staff’s interaction with the residents. Do the staff members take time to talk to the residents, and do they appear comfortable and genuine in these interactions? Find out the ratio of staff to seniors, is it adequate to handle the number of residents?

Check out the recreational schedule, does it provide a variety of events? Walk around the community to see if the residents are actively participating in different events and how well they like the community.

While moving can be hectic, with advanced planning and getting others involved, should provide for an easier transition. An assisted living residence can increase the social interaction of seniors, while providing the security of needed care. Scheduled events and arranged transportation can present new opportunities for the residents. Knowing that the level of help is available should calm any current or future fears.

Just from its name, we know that this area should exude life and vivacity. Otherwise, nobody in the family or their guests would enjoy hanging out or spending time here. Fortunately, decorating your living room to make it livelier and more chic is not that difficult to accomplish. The following set of amazing tips, which gives guidelines on the use of fleur de lis wall art to the proper arrangement of furniture, will surely make the living room makeover a cinch.

Color theme

One of the most important facets of home decoration is the color theme of a room. In living rooms, it is always recommended to use light and neutral shades for the walls to provide a bright ambience and give an impression of larger space. Aside from that, these kinds of colors can complement a wide variety of colors and patterns, making it easier for you to choose furniture.

When choosing a color, you have to remember that colors have psychological effects on people and moods. Warm shades can brighten up your day while shades of green can help make you relax. Whatever color you select, just make sure that your furniture and carpet go well with it.

Furniture

It is always a good idea to have a center of interest. It can be a fireplace, an elegant sofa, a piece of intricate artwork, a piano and so on. Then you can arrange the other pieces of furniture around the focal point. Having a center of interest is not only for visual significance but more importantly, to make decoration and organization of the furniture easier.

It is also important to consider the space and traffic in your living area. The arrangement of your furniture must allow free movement and flow, and give an uncluttered look. If you have a large space, you can have more than one seating areas.

Lighting

The lighting in your living room should be sufficient but not too bright. For general lighting, an overhead lamp or light fixture will be ideal. Place this in an area where it will not shine directly on people’s eyes when they are sitting. Reading lamps can provide task lighting while candles and smaller lamps are great for ambient or mood lighting.

Accents

Wall arts such as fleur de lis wall art can surely make a huge difference in your living area. Fleur de lis or a Flower Lily, which has been associated with French and English royalty, is considered a symbol of purity and perfection. Today, it is very common to see this symbol as a piece of ornamental design and decoration. Aside from wall arts, this design is also typically used in woven table, metal sculptures, and iron furniture designs.

Other kinds of accents that you can add in your living room include pictures, paintings, metal sculptures, mirrors, flower vases, newspaper stand, statues, and lamps.

The living room or the receiving area is one of the busiest places in any home. This is where the family spend time with each other watching TV or talking, and this is also where they welcome and receive guests. And because this is one of the first places people get to see in your home, which forms a lasting impression about your family, it is only right that you are able to decorate it nicely.

With its strategic location in Central America, with borders that connect North and South America, Panama is one of the most industrialized countries in Central America. It is also developing its economy as one of the largest ones in the region per capita and has the largest consumption in Central America for its goods and services, not to mention its international presence as a fiercely competitive banking and offshore center.

One of the benefits in living in Panama is that it has low Panama cost of living compared to other neighboring countries in South and Central America. You can choose to live their through rentals or through building your own house. Properties are available at affordable price in your preferred location. One thing that makes property more affordable is that it has tax incentives when you are a foreigner buying property. Aside form affordable property, below are some of the lists of Panama cost of living:

Construction for US style home – 40 dollars per square foot

Labor cost (unskilled) – 6 dollars per day

Full time maid (live in) – 120 dollars per month

Electricity – approx 10 cents per kilowatt

Water bills – 18 dollar per year

Cable TV – 30 dollar per month

Telephone service – approx 30 dollar per month

Internet access – 40 dollar per month

Subsequently, cost of other goods and services are also low such as haircut which costs only 2 dollars, beers cost as little as 35 cents, and a cup of coffee is only 30 cents if you know where to go.

If you have earned foreign income that is higher than Central America, you will definitely have the tendency to have higher standard of living because your money will go far as gods and services are offered at cheap prices. Most retirees and those simply looking for a good place to relocate, considers Panama. You can choose beaches and mountain locations and still get the Panama cost of living that is affordable and convenient. At the metropolitan Panama cost of living, it is usually higher as you can live more modernized lifestyle. However, compared to America and other industrialized countries with the same modernization development, Panama cost of living in the city is still lower.

Not only because of low Panama cost of living that Panama is a good place to stay, but it also has beautiful places where you can relocate to and call your new home. One retiree tells a story that while searching for that ideal piece of real estate to purchase, he was impressed by how extremely hospitable all of the people around him were. He gets the information that he needs and started living in Panama. As a start, he rented an apartment until he will be able to adjust to the place. Two things make him feel at home in Panama – the hospitability of the people and the wonderful places. He lives in cozy apartment and can shop around different malls with his money. Indeed, Panama cost of living is a mixture of cheap price but convenient and comfortable. By word of mouth, Panama is booming with all sorts of foreigners investing and relocating in different places in Panama.

By A.Noton

Elders have spent most of their lives in their house. When they become too old and sickly to live in their own home, it is usually necessary to move them to a nursing home facility. Assisted living homes vs living at home for elder can be a very debatable thing. However, when an elder becomes incapable of residing in a house, it is usually best to send them to an arrangement where they can receive the necessary support. There are numerous reasons for this.

First off, when old folks get too old to live at a house, it deteriorates their quality of life. In these instances, old people have trouble completing basic tasks such as getting out of bed, going to the bathroom, brushing teeth, and whatever else they need to accomplish.

Likewise, if an old person in this condition lives with other family members, it puts a strain on them. They have to constantly tend to the needs of the old person, which puts a strain on the family. TO make matters worse, they are doing a lot of work for free. It’s almost like having to watch over a small child all over again, except it’s a fully-grown child.

The good news is that families have options when it comes to placements for their older family member. Assisted living facilities, also known as nursing homes, are available.

When a senior citizen is put into a nursing home or any other facility, it is beneficial to the family and the old person. First off, these types of placements offer a lot of supports. There are health care aides that work around the clock to serve the senior citizens. They are also there to keep a close eye on the clients, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Old people love to feel a sense of community. When they live in such a setting, they have the opportunity to socialize with people their own age. This is something that they don’t get when they are residing in a house, whether it’s with other family members or independently. Socializing with people in their own age bracket can improve their mental health, in turn giving them a chance to live longer.

This type of setting is much less risky for old people who are residing in them. When old people live there, there are safeguards to ensure that the patients are safe. Additionally, if there is an emergency, all the old person has to do is hit a button. Within seconds, support staff will be there to assist.

There are also times when it can be a good financial decision to put an old person into a nursing home. There are many facilities that are covered by Medicaid and Medicare. This means that the cost will be covered.

While it may be difficult for an old person to move away from family or move out of their house, it is sometimes in their best interest. Nursing homes offer great benefits to seniors and improve their quality of life. Assisted living homes vs living at home for elders should not be a difficult decision.

By Hyacinth Allen

Candida is a microbiological term, an example of simple yeast that lives in all of us; it is present in all our mucus membranes, but if our immune system is functioning correctly the Candida, does us no harm. Candidiasis is caused by the yeast-like fungus Candida Albicans. Candida Albicans is one of the most common human pathogens; it may cause thrush either in the mouth and throat or in the vagina. While this is neither systemic or life threatening it is a nuisance and the problem is aggravated by the fact that few classifications of drugs are effective against fungal infections, and all of them have side effects.

When the immune system has been compromised for instance from too many antibiotics then the result may be a systemic life threatening infection.

Bacteria have many necessary functions in the body.

They supply energy for cells by producing short chain fatty acids.

They inhibit the activity of harmful toxins such as bacteroides and clostridia.

They are needed to synthesise essential nutrients, such as Vitamin K which is necessary for blood coagulation and Vitamin K2 or menaquinone, which is produced by bacteria in the intestines, unless the intestines are damaged. Lack of vitamin K leads to fractures, bleeding and possibly osteoporosis they maintain the bodies Ph, or acid balance.

Seventy percent of our immune system works within the intestines; if the intestines are not healthy we cannot be healthy. We need bacteria as a response to infection.

Within the intestine, they govern chemical reactions, which are essential to metabolism.

The balance in the intestines is fragile but a combination of low immunity and using antibiotics can upset the delicate stability. The body produces acetaldehyde when it breaks down yeasts, and it is a poison, it is ingested either through environmental pollutants such as chemical perfumes or it is produced when the body breaks down alcohol, or the carbohydrates in yeast. As we have established, it is a poison to humans and the following pathways must convert it.

Chemical aldehydes, in the form of ethanol or drinking alcohol, are routinely processed into acetaldehyde which is used in the production of fragrances, such as fragrant toilet paper, deodorants, air fresheners etc., when the aldehydes are present in the body the body uses aldehyde oxidase or aldehyde dehydrogenase to neutralise it.

As the body should be capable of neutralising it, it is only poisonous when it is partially digested. For the process to be completed the body needs to have sufficient levels of glutamine, iron, molybdenum, the riboflavin group and selenium.

Candida converts sugars into ethanol and ethanol is routinely found in over the counter medicines, because it has antiseptic properties. However if the ethanol levels are too high, either because they have entered the body as alcohol, carbohydrates, perfumes or antiseptics then it becomes a poison, an acetaldehyde. If you have adequate amounts of glutamine, selenium, niacin, folic acid, B6, B12, iron, and molybdenum, the aldehydes continue the metabolic process, conversion into acetic acid, which can be excreted, or metabolized further into acetyl coenzyme A and all is well in the gut. However, when these crucial nutrients are in poor supply the aldehydes start building up in the body.

Candida is not the enemy, and to view it as such is misleading. The actual process of digestion is complex and way beyond the paradigms of this article. When we have normal levels of Candida in our bodies and we are fully nourished, Candida furnishes the body with a necessary part of what is known as the “Krebs energy cycle” necessary for the health and maintenance of all cells. When our digestion is unbalanced, we incompletely convert sugars into what are in effect poisons and they stay toxic within our system. When our digestion is balanced, or we give it what it needs in terms of supplements, a potential poison is transformed into a source of energy, or aldehyde poison becomes acetyl coenzyme A.

Candida converts sugars into ethanol and ethanol is routinely found in over the counter medicines, because it has antiseptic properties. As a common ingredient in prescription and over-the-counter medications, it is not bad in itself; it has important properties as a free radical scavenger and antiseptic. Unfortunately as a side effect they alter the delicate ecosystem within the intestines and are potentially storing up trouble. The problem with antibiotics is that they do not target the bad bacteria, because they cannot differentiate, and they wipe out the friendly bacteria as well as the illness they have been prescribed to treat.

With a healthy immune system the body uses the skin, the lungs; the kidney’s and muscles to ward off infection from an intruder. Time and financial constraints means that insufficient tests are carried out to what type of bacteria is invading the bodies’ immune system. This means that broad based antibiotics are prescribed. Because the antibiotic is broad based it attacks all bacteria including the bodies’ good bacteria. There is a bacterium in the human gut that assists in the manufacture of vitamins this healthy bacterium also comes under attack from the use of antibiotics. Nearly everyone who uses antibiotics suffer from diarrhoea, and or other side effects. Once this occurs, then the Candida balance is precarious and it is likely to lead to infection.

By Doug Firebaugh

“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword”…

Hebrews 4:12

How sharp are you at what you do for a living? Are you someone who “gets it” and is looked up to, or are you still trying to figure Success out?

Are you quick on your feet and quick to act? Do you have strong instincts when it comes to High Achievement?

How powerful are you in front of people, and when you communicate? Does it impact people and excite them? Does it move them and create an emotiopnal stirring or do your words fall flat on the floor with not much response?

Do you communicate in a powerful fashion?

No?

There is a Holy Success Secret that lies within every Christian’s hands. It is the Secret to Success that everyone seeks, but few find. It is a Power SOAKED with God’s Power and Touch, and is a Supernatural Success Magnet on Steroids. It is simply the most Success focused environment on earth.

It’s called The Word of God.

And that alone will sharpen your skill set for Success like a razor. It will take your raw Success iron, and change it to steel, and then sharpen it to the point of where even the evil one knows not to distrub your efforts and Success pursuit.

It will make you a powerful force in anything you do. it will accelerate anything you do. It will enlarge anything you touch. It will multiply everything you task. And it will increase all aspects of your Success walk.

And It will make you a quick thinker, quick on your feet, and a quick study.

How?

By the incredible Power of Change that lies within It. The Power to change every aspect of you, and to create a new you that people will be amazed at. And it all happens from the Unseen Realm, where God lives.

It will change your thinking.

It will change your confidence.

It will change your communication.

It will change your belief.

It will change your possibilities.

It will change your perspective.

It will change your expectations.

The Bible will change radically your potential for Success. From an Unseen Power from an Unseen Realm, with an Unseen Touch that will Transform you overnight.

BUT- You MUST read it daily!

Start with the Book of Proverbs and then move to the Book of John. Take 1 chapter a day, and ask, “How can this apply to my Success efforts? What can I learn from this? What is the Success Message that can be found here?”

This time in the Word will empower you and your Success in ways that you cannot fathom, and enlarge your potential to Succeed in ways that are unimaginable.

Then get a Success journal, and make daily notes of your thoughts and what you can do with what you have read with your Success.

But it’s like an air conditioner when it’s 112 degrees outside.(typical summer here in Dallas.)

If it’s not plugged in, it won’t work. Are you plugged into God’s Word? Do you read a part of it daily?

Here is a tip:

Don’t just plug into IT….

Let It PLUG INTO YOU! And CONNECT you to the Supernatural SOURCE for all Christian Success!

It will change your Success and High Achievement forever!

By Phyllis Zimbler Miller

If you’ve optimized your Amazon profile, including choosing an Amazon signature that appears every time you post a book review on Amazon, you’re ready to move to the second stage of optimizing yourself and your book on Amazon. And this second stage starts with your book’s page on Amazon.

Your Book’s Amazon Page

First, check that your name is spelled correctly and the product info is correct. If your co-author was left off or there are other errors, scroll down the page to “update book info” and do so.

Second, if you have a blog and you have entered your blog feed into your Amazon account, your blog posts will automatically appear on your book’s page.

Now let’s look at a basic opportunity. Does your Amazon book page offer the LOOK INSIDE feature? If not, ask your publisher to provide this to Amazon.

Next, is your book available in a Kindle format? If your publisher doesn’t automatically provide this format, do so yourself. You can follow the instructions on the Amazon site – scroll down your book’s page until you see this headline “Sell a Digital Version of This Book in the Kindle Store.” Or you can supply the version yourself. (If you do have someone create the digital version of your book, make sure that this version is optimized. Otherwise you’ll have a digital version that is very hard to read.)

Obviously you want to get as many good reviews for your book as possible. This can be achieved in a variety of ways. One way: If you take a virtual book tour on book blogs and get good reviews, you can ask the book bloggers who gave you good reviews to also put their reviews on your book’s Amazon page. And there are many book bloggers who offer to review books even if you’re not on a virtual book tour.

A second way: You can ask your friends to read your book and post good reviews. (If a friend doesn’t like your book, don’t ask him/her to post a review.) A third way: Look for reviewers on Amazon who have written good reviews of similar books to yours. Then contact those reviewers if you can find their contact info.

A fourth way should be considered with caution: There are book review companies that offer book reviews for a fee. It’s probably best to get recommendations from other authors rather than randomly choosing such review companies.

Under “Tags Customers Associate with This Product” you’ll find “your tags.” You can add a tag for your book and then you will be asked to write a brief reason why the tag is relevant for your book. Amazon then reviews your reason for the tag and decides if the suggested tag is appropriate for your book.

You can write an article on your own book under “Product Information from the Amapedia Community.” You can read Amazon’s explanation of Amapedia – but for now think of it as a Wikipedia-type entry about your book.

Also on your book’s page you can “Create a Listmania! list” (instructions included) that can turn up on other book pages with your Amazon signature included with the list

Or on your page you can “Create a guide” for the “So You’d Like to …” feature. Again, the benefit for an author of doing the work to create the guide is that the guide will turn up on other book pages with your Amazon signature.

Other Book Pages

And, of course, you can get exposure by posting reviews on other book pages. Your Amazon signature will automatically appear at the top of your review, and you can manually include a signature at the end of the review. These can be the same signature or different signatures.

The more reviews you do on Amazon the more places that people can run across your name and the title of your book. If people like the way you write reviews, they may be more inclined to be interested in your own book.

Yes, writing reviews of books you’ve read does take time. And doing the other Amazon optimizer techniques in this article also takes time. Yet, if you’ve spent all that time writing a book, it makes sense to optimize your book’s Amazon presence. Who knows who might discover you online?

In brick and mortar stores there is a software application that has provided additional sales and is geared toward customer satisfaction. When customers are checking out at a retail shop they may be made aware of complimentary products that are geared specifically to the item they have just purchased. If they are purchasing a dress, the clerk may make them aware of shoes or jewelry that may be a good fit to complete the ensemble. A customer might also be provided with a store coupon for a complimentary product encouraging a return visit to the store.

In the world of retail this is called “Point of Sale” (POS) information. The data is loaded into the cash register to allow clerks to have instance access to details regarding items that the customer may be interested in.

This concept is in play every time you so through a drive-thru and are asked if you’d “like French fries with that?”

In online marketing you can adopt a similar process. In many cases you will find online retailers placing a section below your shopping cart that indicates that other customers who purchased your product also purchased other items. Then the retailer provides photos and simple descriptions of complimentary materials.

There is always cost in gaining new customers. This cost comes in the form of advertising. This advertising could come in the form of Pay Per Click (PPC) or other Banner ads or even means of advertising such as Google Adsense.

The other primary means of additional sales in a cost effective environment is through the use of repeat sales.

Once you gain a customer you have likely developed a sense of trust with the client. When you return to that client a month or so following the sale they may be more likely to look at your offerings with a greater degree of interest. Since they are already an established client you do not bear the cost of additional advertisements and essentially risk little capital in reaching out to existing and satisfied customers.

Statistics indicate that up to 40% of your existing customers will respond to future sales information you provide.

Essentially any point of sale revenue is a welcome source of income, but the sale of products or services to clients who already trust you is a means of accelerating profit while keeping overall costs down.

By combining the approaches of add-on sales in the beginning and future sales post-checkout you can maximize the online experience for your customers, meet your client’s felt needs and improve your own bottom line.

By Sam Miller

If you think that the job of an HR staff member is easy, then you are definitely going to be surprised. The human element in any company is just about the most difficult to measure. And when it comes to HR work, the main roles the department undertakes are recruitment and selection. Now, there may be tips on how the department can actually hire members of the company’s workforce more efficiently. But these tips do not really belong to a concrete system, simply because no such system exists. You have to rely on time and experience to determine which applicant would actually make a better addition to your workforce from the ones which wouldn’t. Thus, there is actually much relying on the investment a company makes on its HR department. There is also much relying on the aspects that determine HR ROI or the returns of investment entailed in the department.

It is not easy discerning the productive applicants from the unproductive ones. It takes time and experience, as mentioned above. You see, when an applicant applies for a certain position in your company, he would be at her best behavior because he would be selling his skills, abilities, and his very own self. So, you would not really see beyond the facade, should there indeed be a facade. But if the HR department does not do whatever it takes to maximize HR ROI, then it would be deemed inefficient in the very purpose that it stands for. Thus, every member of the HR department would then employ a lot of methods, to ensure that the maximum potential for HR ROI would be realized.

There are many methods for the HR department to maximize its returns on investment. One such method would be to conduct background checks on their applicants. This way, the department itself can weigh which of the applicants actually have had decent work experience in decent companies in the industry. Finding such applicants can be promising for your company, and there would be stronger chances for better returns on investment with these applicants.

If companies would forego conducting background checks for whatever reason, then this would certainly increase the risks of having high turnover rates. If you do not check and research on the work experience of your applicants, then what guarantee do you have that the applicants are indeed being honest during the whole screening and interview process? They could very well be lying to their teeth about their work experience, just to impress you and increase the chances of getting hired. And this would only be detrimental to your cause. Thus, background checks are indeed a step closer towards maximizing HR ROI.

HR ROI is really a very important aspect to keep in mind if you are working in the HR department for any company. When the maximum potential of this concept is realized, then it would not be just the HR department alone that would benefit from this. Rather, it would be for the good of the whole company as well. Thus, this is one concept that no HR department should overlook at all.
