Beauty From The Inside For Sensitive Skin

By Tina Titas

If you have sensitive skin you may find that many of the treatments you try are too harsh for your skin. While other women are buying skin care products with vitamin C or anti-oxidants, you are using the mild brand with no anti-aging benefits.

So, what can you do about it? How can you, with your sensitive skin, get the same anti-aging effects that other women are getting?

Rather than applying expensive anti-aging products on your skin, you can eat them. Now, of course, I don’t mean for you to eat your expensive night cream or any other store-bought skin products, but you can eat the effective ingredients in them. Since your skin is your largest organ, the benefits of eating the ingredients will be similar to applying them directly to your skin.

Here are some ingredients you can start with.

Green tea: There are plenty of skin care product now that contain green tea. You’ll hear about green tea everywhere and it’s now in many brands of skin care. However, if you have sensitive skin and can’t use those products, then you can drink green tea and have the same effects on your skin. Plus, the bonus is that you’ll be benefitting every other part of your body as well. Some of the other benefits of green tea are weight loss, lower cholesterol, and possibly a lower risk of cancer.

Cucumbers: An increase in fruits and vegetables in your diet can have a positive effect on the overall appearance of your skin. Increase your vegetable intake and your skin will thank you. The side effects of this option? Well, you may lose some weight and feel more energy, but that’s not such a bad thing, is it?

Vitamin C: Take a supplement or increase your intake of oranges and other fruits. The anti-oxidants in them are wonderful for your skin.

Remember, your skin is your largest organ. Take care of it by feeding it well, whether you’re putting products on it, or feeding your body with nutritious foods. And, for those of us with sensitive skin, we’ll be saving a fortune, avoiding those expensive jars of cream and instead heading straight for the grocery store produce aisles.

Womens Health Mag – A Great Resource For All Women

By Elizabeth R. Dean

Whenever I have a question about womens health and don’t feel comfortable asking my doctor or polling my friends, I turn to my favorite womens health mag. You’ll be amazed at the things you can learn if you read the publication each month…it’s almost like having your own personal doctor at your disposal. Also, if you save the magazines over the years, you can always use them as a reference when you need them. For instance, you may not have a question about which kinds of discharge are normal now, but maybe a few months down the road you will. At that point, you’ll be happy you saved the magazines.

There are a wide variety of reasons to look to a womens health mag when you have a question about your health or body. Sometimes you can feel like you’re asking your doctor a stupid question when you have something you want to talk about. This is usually the case with me, I hate asking questions because I’m afraid I’ll look dumb and the answer will be really simple and obvious. I know that doctors have probably been asked every kind of question under the sun, but I still feel more comfortable consulting one of my magazines than asking an expert while red in the face.

Beyond substituting doctor’s advice, a womens health mag can help you to do all kinds of things. Usually they have travel sections, so after you’ve lost ten pounds by following the advice in their workout section you can treat yourself to a nice vacation. They also have recipes, articles on which foods to eat regularly and which to avoid and more. Getting a subscription to a womens health mag might be the best idea you’ve had in a very long time!

Fox Sports Is A Collection Of Highly Successful Regional Sports Channels.

By Edwin Ethan Hopper

Fox Sports is a collection of highly successful regional sports channels as well as national channel that are part and parcel of the Fox Broadcasting Company. Currently, Fox Sports owns the right to Major League Baseball games, NASCAR Races, as well as the games of the National Football League. Fox Sports keeps a close eye on its performance statistics, and it is no wonder that the channel is celebrating the fact that their October 8th NFL game between the Eagles and Cowboys received the Nielsen Media Research Group’s notation as having been the highest rated NFL game. Granted, the return of Terrell Owens is to thank for this feat, but Fox Sports realizes that it is the choice of most viewers who are in the market for a game.

Yet did you know that there is more to Fox Sports than immediately meets the eye? For example, there is the Fox Sports Israel channel which focuses heavily on many of the same items as the main channel, but it also spends a lot of time covering cricket, which is a highly popular game for many different nations, even though in the United States is rarely gets noticed. In addition to this, there is the Fox Sports en Espa

Vitamins And Nutritional Supplements: When Too Much

By Cathy Peterson

There are a significant number of people who utilize vitamins and nutritional supplements in this day and age. In point of fact, there is a notable percentage of these vitamin and nutritional supplement users who utilize more of these products than is recommended. These people espouse the belief that “if one is good, a lot is terrific.” In other words, these people utilize well in excess the recommended daily allowance of a particular vitamin or nutritional supplement product.

In reality, the overuse of certain types of vitamin and nutritional supplements can have serious, negative consequences. A number of these consequences are outlined in this article to assist you in making better decisions in regard to the proper use of vitamins and nutritional supplements.

There are some vitamins and supplements that do not necessarily have harmful effects when used beyond recommend allowances. However, by taking more of these vitamins and supplements, you are not obtaining any additional benefit beyond that which you would enjoy by taking only the daily recommended allowance. In other words, “overdosing” will not cause you physical harm; however, “overdosing” simply will have no helpful or beneficial effects in your overall program for healthy living.

On the other hand, there are certain types of vitamins, minerals and supplements that can be harmful if taken beyond the recommended daily allowance. For example, if you are a man, you need to pay close attention to the amount of iron that you ingest. Too much iron in a man’s system can have serious medical consequences. (Many men who are health conscious avoid taking multi-vitamins that contain iron in their mixtures. Using multi-vitamins can make it more difficult to keep track of what you are taking and ingesting in the way of vitamins and minerals on a daily basis.)

Before you commence a diet regimen that includes vitamins, minerals and nutritional supplements, you should take the time — indeed, you really must take the time — to consult with your doctor to determine what combination of vitamins, minerals and other nutritional supplements will best serve your needs and best enhance your health. Your doctor can also assist you in selecting the best vitamin, mineral and supplement products or can recommend a nutritionist who can assist you in obtaining the most appropriate and healthy products for your needs and good health. By obtaining professional assistance, you will be able to create and craft the most appropriate overall eating, exercise and supplement program not only for today but for your own health future.

Beauty Is More Than Skin Deep!

By Adriana Noton

The quest for beauty is an age-old search that started in ancient times around the cooking fire when certain women’s physical attractiveness outshone the features of others. Appearance has long been prized and won accolades and monetary gain in pageants, movies and TV shows. The common modern standard for it is based on appearance and looks rather than more lasting qualities of character and inner strength.

But the old adages of beauty is not only skin deep and pretty is as pretty does seem to indicate that we as humans should look beyond the pretty face. We should instead look inward to judge the true elegance of the person involved. The inner qualities must be considered and valued in addition to the outward appearance of individuals.

A current modern fascination is with reality shows featuring kids dolled up in pageant fixings. The kids are dressed in beautiful clothes and they are expected to act mannerly and grown up. This expectation does not allow for the children to express what behavioral specialists call age appropriate behavior actions and mannerisms fitting their age and stage in life.

To evoke a persons true potential for attractiveness, it is necessary to include two attributes. One is physical attributes, which are transitory at best, and the second is their inner gifts, which can grow for a lifetime. These lasting qualities should be nurtured and encouraged in young people as they learn to grow and thrive amid the impermanence of daily life.

An individuals self concept of his or her elegance should not be dependent on appearance alone. It should reflect instead an evaluation of inner qualities and feelings such as love, respect and appreciation of others and the natural world. Appreciating the serenity of nature arrayed in glorious color and harmony cannot help but inspire a sense of awe at its glamor.

Music has a quality of elegance all its own. The harmonics of the scale and the talented proficiency of the players make for a sonorous sound which appeals to the musically talented and the tone-deaf alike. The relaxing and invigorating sounds of music have a quality of beauty all their own.

Beauty in the world must be measured by feelings and thoughts; there is no arbitrary measurement for it, despite what others would like us to believe. Whether it is color-based, appearance-based, or amenity-based, it cannot be quantified by a set of general standards. There is no set recipe for it in the world or no pill to be taken to ensure beautiful results.

So how can we ensure that we are beautiful? If wearing the latest makeup or facial product does not do it, what can? Making the most of yourself and taking the best physical care of yourself possible are two ways you can start. Deciding what is beautiful for you and setting a standard for yourself is another way to begin.

The truth about beauty is that there is not just one definition to be achieved world-wide. You have to set your own definition. Then, you must do whatever is in your power to make that happen for your life!

About the Author: Aging is unavoidable, though, the way we take care of ourselves can help us age gracefully. Hair removal, exercise, skin care, hair care and a trip to the beauty salon can all help this process.

Assisted Living Homes Vs Living at Home For Elder: An Overview of Benefits

By A.Noton

Elders have spent most of their lives in their house. When they become too old and sickly to live in their own home, it is usually necessary to move them to a nursing home facility. Assisted living homes vs living at home for elder can be a very debatable thing. However, when an elder becomes incapable of residing in a house, it is usually best to send them to an arrangement where they can receive the necessary support. There are numerous reasons for this.

First off, when old folks get too old to live at a house, it deteriorates their quality of life. In these instances, old people have trouble completing basic tasks such as getting out of bed, going to the bathroom, brushing teeth, and whatever else they need to accomplish.

Likewise, if an old person in this condition lives with other family members, it puts a strain on them. They have to constantly tend to the needs of the old person, which puts a strain on the family. TO make matters worse, they are doing a lot of work for free. It’s almost like having to watch over a small child all over again, except it’s a fully-grown child.

The good news is that families have options when it comes to placements for their older family member. Assisted living facilities, also known as nursing homes, are available.

When a senior citizen is put into a nursing home or any other facility, it is beneficial to the family and the old person. First off, these types of placements offer a lot of supports. There are health care aides that work around the clock to serve the senior citizens. They are also there to keep a close eye on the clients, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Old people love to feel a sense of community. When they live in such a setting, they have the opportunity to socialize with people their own age. This is something that they don’t get when they are residing in a house, whether it’s with other family members or independently. Socializing with people in their own age bracket can improve their mental health, in turn giving them a chance to live longer.

This type of setting is much less risky for old people who are residing in them. When old people live there, there are safeguards to ensure that the patients are safe. Additionally, if there is an emergency, all the old person has to do is hit a button. Within seconds, support staff will be there to assist.

There are also times when it can be a good financial decision to put an old person into a nursing home. There are many facilities that are covered by Medicaid and Medicare. This means that the cost will be covered.

While it may be difficult for an old person to move away from family or move out of their house, it is sometimes in their best interest. Nursing homes offer great benefits to seniors and improve their quality of life. Assisted living homes vs living at home for elders should not be a difficult decision.

Do You Suffer These Womens Health Problems With Crohns?

By Sharon Dobson

Even though symptoms of Crohn’s disease can be controlled through a diet, there is no doubt that the illness is literally a pain in the rear for all sufferers regardless if they are male or female. Unfortunately, it’s also a known fact that many women with Crohn’s experience gynaecological issues as a result of the disease.

Depending on the type of Crohn’s disease a woman has, and the severity she experiences, Crohn’s can wreak havoc on her reproductive system, affecting her menstruation cycle, vagina and ability to reproduce without complications. Each gynaecological affect will be discussed below.

Menstruation: Many women with Crohn’s disease (over 90%) report having irregular menstruation cycles. Due to the fact that chronic diseases already cause the body to act abnormally, it is not uncommon for women to experience more severe Crohn’s symptoms prior to, or directly following their menstrual cycle. The increase in symptoms, along with menses, often results in further inflammation of the intestine, as well as malnutrition.

Vaginal Issues: Some women who have a severe case of Crohn’s disease may develop Enterovaginal. This is the medical term used to describe a fistula that occurs in the vaginal region. A fistula is a small abnormal tunnel that connects two organs together and is formed from ulcers present in the digestive track.

A vaginal fistula may be the connection of the vagina to the rectum. This can lead to pain during intercourse, and can also result in other serious side effects including the formation of an abscess (painful, pus filled lump), or passing gas or feces through the vagina. If you have pain during intercourse or notice any other strange side effects related to your vaginal area, consult your physician right away.

Reproduction: Many people are under the misconception that if a woman has Crohn’s disease, she is less likely to conceive a child. This is untrue. However, although a woman with Crohn’s is just as likely to conceive as any other woman, women with Crohn’s need to carefully consider their health before they decide to put their body through the change of pregnancy. This is because pregnant women with Crohn’s have a high chance of a flare up which can lead to complications.

Many complications result in malnutrition and dehydration which can cause a miscarriage. In addition, should the flare up of Crohn’s require emergency surgery, the unborn baby can suffer complications.

It is estimated that women who develop Crohn’s disease, or have an active case while pregnant, are at 2 to 3 times greater risk of having a miscarriage or a premature delivery. Furthermore, many medications that are prescribed to control Crohn’s disease can not be taken during pregnancy and breastfeeding as they can harm the baby. The lack of medication can also lead to flare ups.

Finally, Crohn’s can lead to other medical complications in women such as osteoporosis and colon cancer. Osteoporosis can occur if a woman is being treated for the disease with steroids, and has limited the amount of calcium she puts in her diet, if dairy foods are one of the leading triggers for her Crohn’s symptoms.

Colon cancer is another risk. However, this risk is not limited to women, and is something that every Crohn’s disease sufferer can face. The same can be said about fistulas. Although Enterovaginal is obviously specific to women, the many other fistulas that occur are not. Thus, make sure you talk to your doctor about the factors you are at risk for and discuss all your treatment options.

Can Hypnotherapy For Sports Help Enhance Sports Performance? Yes, Says Tiger Woods

By Terry Doherty

Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy have come a long way from the primitive notions of it being related to mumbo-jumbo and sinister magicians. Today, the world is recognizing hypnotherapy for what it really is – a life changing force which allows you to conquer your mind. And we would all agree that our mind is indeed the greatest instrument we have to alter our life and to change its course towards success. In the recent years there has been a lot of speculation over hypnotherapy, and it has been found that one of the areas where it can really work for you is to improve your sports performance. If you are an athlete, or aspire to be a sport star; it would be an entirely wise decision to consider hypnotherapy for further honing your skills, and come up with one winning performance after the other. What’s more hypnotherapy in High Wycombe and Buckinghamshire is now available at Terry Doherty’s clinic. A lot of athletes in the past and in the present swear by what hypnosis has done to their sporting performance, and how they have produced master strokes in every game they have played since they started practicing it. And no other sports person displays the brilliance of Hypnotherapy, than the Golf Maestro, Tiger Woods.

Tiger Woods has acknowledged the fact that he turns to hypnotherapy to calm his mind and improve his focus before every game he plays. In fact he is said to have been practicing it ever since he was 13. Golf is a mind game, where each golfer has to think well in advance what shots he/she is going to play. Visualization techniques in hypnotherapy help a golfer do just that. It helps a player to go over the winning strokes in his mind over and over again, till the stroke – every muscle moved to create it, every angle in the body needed to achieve it, is instilled in the player’s mind. Hypnotherapy also helps in calming down the anxiety and nervousness that a player faces before any big game. The soothing effect and the calming quality of hypnotherapy go a long way in instilling a feeling of peace in the player’s psyche. And when a player is peaceful, his mind is uncluttered – that way he can give in his 100% to a shot. He can overlook all distractions, as his mind is completely focused on the perfect stroke. In his mind, he can visualize the next stroke and play it near precision – the results speak for themselves.

Tiger Woods has been quoted in the August 2001 issue of Golf Magazine saying, “I always have an inner peace on the golf course. I’ve learned to trust the subconscious, and my instincts have never lied to me.” Much of the credit for this inner peace and calm goes to the fact that he practices hypnosis at least once a week. Jay Brunza, is the clinical psychologist who has been working with Tiger Woods for a long time; it is he who introduced Woods to the tools of hypnotherapy, the ways to conquer one’s mind, and the methods for self-hypnosis. Jay Brunza taught Woods how to get himself into “the zone” at will. The zone which we are talking about here is a state of complete calm and focus, when a player can bring on his peak performance at will.

A player’s state of mind is a major player in the kind of game he/she has. If one is calm, relaxed and focused, the performance too will reflect the same mastery. In fact, the next time you watch Tiger Woods play, pay close attention to his face before he tees off. You will notice that his eyes open wide, and he blink twice. Its not that he can’t see clearly, it’s just a nugget of hypnotherapy he is using to ‘get into the zone’. It’s done on purpose, and his victories go a long way in telling us that this post-hypnotic trigger has affected his game more than we give it credit for. If you want to avail of hypnotherapy sessions for sports performance in High Wycombe and Buckinghamshire, get in touch with Terry Doherty on terry@mind-works.co.uk

Vitamins Are Supplements Acceptable

By Bob Benson

In a perfect world, children wouldn’t balk at eating a perfectly balanced diet and adults would have the time to create that menu for themselves and the children in their lives. Unfortunately, we live in the real world and perfection is more than a little distance away. So what about those vitamins we need? The alternative to a perfect diet is a regular regimen of vitamin supplements.

Before you grab up the latest, cutest, most expensive or cheapest vitamins you can find, take a minute to evaluate what it is that you expect to accomplish. Start by carefully evaluating your typical daily food intake.

Take a count of the foods you eat over a period of a few days. You may find that you’re getting sufficient amounts of most vitamins simply through your diet. Even a less-than-healthy diet overall may be offset by certain habits – drinking significant quantities of Vitamin D fortified milk, for example. If you typically drink at least two cups of milk each day, you’re probably getting the Vitamin D recommended for a normal, healthy adult.

But what if you realize that you really aren’t getting the vitamins you need? Then it’s time to add a vitamin supplement, but you should be smart about it. For most children and adults who aren’t getting the recommended daily allowances of vitamins, a very general vitamin is probably your best bet. There are plenty of options out there and it really becomes a matter of personal choice. If the kids like some particular brand better than others, that brand is probably fine. Just be sure that it’s providing recommended daily allowances of the top vitamins needed by children.

The same is true of adults, though it tends to be the claims of the manufacturer that grabs the attention rather than the fact that the vitamins are in the shape of a cartoon character. Be wary of any vitamin brand when the manufacturer makes incredible claims. There’s no doubt that having sufficient vitamin intake on a daily basis will make you feel better, but there’s also no doubt that vitamins aren’t going to turn back the clock, give you the vitality of a toddler and make all your aches and pains go away. Be smart about it. Read the back of the bottle to find out what vitamins are actually packed into that little pill. You may be surprised to find the ingredients of the cheapest store brand and those incredibly expensive vitamins are exactly the same.
